It’s the End of the KCRHA as We Know It

King County Executive Girmay Zahilay and Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson announced a restructuring plan for the King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) following a forensic audit revealing a $45 million deficit and $13 million in lost funds. By January, Seattle’s Human Services Department will retake control of over 100 contracts worth $118 million, while King County takes roughly $40 million. The KCRHA will handle regional HUD funding, the Point-In-Time homelessness survey, and data systems. The agency’s budget will be cut by more than half, affecting 20–25 staff.
