Seattle and King County are restructuring the King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA), re-absorbing over 400 contracts worth $160 million by early 2027. The move follows a forensic audit that found serious financial problems, including $13 million in unaccounted expenses and a $44.7 million negative cash balance. Meanwhile, the 2026 Point-in-Time Count showed homelessness in King County grew 9% to 18,365 people, with unsheltered homelessness up 21% over two years.
