Washington Poised to Elect Its First Openly Trans Legislator

Jaelynn Scott won the primary in Washington’s 37th Legislative District (South Seattle) and is set to become the state’s first openly transgender legislator. She represents the seat vacated by Rep. Chipalo Street and received over 88% of the primary vote. Scott, who leads the Lavender Rights Project, supports progressive policies including corporate taxation and expanded public housing.
