Kelabe Tewolde Is the Real Deal

Kelabe Tewolde, a progressive challenger from South Seattle, won 51 percent in the August primary for Washington’s 37th House District, defeating 27-year incumbent Rep. Sharon Tomiko Santos. Tewolde, an educator and housing advocate, is now considered competitive in the general election race, with endorsements from King County Executive Girmay Zahilay and State Superintendent Chris Reykdal. The 37th stretches from Seattle’s Chinatown-International District south to Skyway.
