The Maple Valley Creative Arts Council is launching its Summer Concerts in the Arboretum series, running every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. beginning July 7, 2026, at the Lake Wilderness Arboretum’s Perennial Garden. The kickoff features Swing Street Jazz Ensemble performing free live music. Bring a lawn chair, blanket, and refreshments for an evening of lively jazz surrounded by nature—made possible by a grant from 4Culture.
Highline Musical Theatre is offering full-tuition scholarships for fall classes in singing, dancing, and acting to King County public school students, thanks to a 4Culture Curiosity Pass grant. No previous theatre experience is required, and students need only be enrolled in a King County public school—no financial need documentation necessary. Space is limited, so families are encouraged to apply early at HMT.art.
The Stranger’s weekly events guide for September 7–13 features Seattle-area entertainment including Death Cab for Cutie performing live on KEXP Monday at 11 am (free), a Race the L8 event testing King County Metro’s bus line Tuesday at 5 pm on Denny and Dexter (free), and film screenings at local theaters. Most events are Seattle-based and outside Maple Valley’s immediate area.
